Back to home pageHow to get to Gordon Gregory's house: 18 Meynell Crescent, Hackney E9 7AS (tel. (0) 20 8985 7422)There are 3 choices:From outside London from the North, West and EastFrom outside London from the South
From outside London from the North, West and East top of this pageCome down the M11.Even if you approach from the opposite side of London, most people will find it quicker, easier and less frustrating to drive round the M25 to get to the M11 at M25 Junction 27.At the bottom of the M11, take signs for the A12/A13, Central London/Docklands then A12, Central London/Stratford (a new urban motorway)(stay in the left-hand lane all the way to the Redbridge roundabout where you join the A12).On the A12 follow signs for Central London/Stratford. Come off at the Lea Interchange and take the signs for A106, Stratford, Dalston & Hackney then A106, Dalston & Bethnal Green. This requires you to go straight on at the traffic lights at the end of the slip road and at a further set just past the bridge over the canal.Continue on this road for about half a mile from the Motorway. Turn right at a T junction then, just under more bridges for the Motorway there is a series of traffic lights. Follow the sign for Bethnal Green, which will take you up Victoria Park Road with the park on your left. (Victoria Park Road is one-way going west. This is a place where you might go wrong, so go slowly. Keep to the left and follow the road round a very slight left fork - avoid a fairly tight left just before the park.)After just over half a mile there is a roundabout, turn right and drive North up Lauriston Road. After 100 yards, the road turns left in a one-way system round the church, which you can usually see straight-ahead above the houses. (If you're on foot just walk round to the right of the church and you'll see Meynell Crescent across the common.)Go round this one-way system, always taking every right turn, even it means you go round twice, it's only about 200 yards. Keep turning right until you see the sign to Meynell Crescent on the left. Congratulations you've made it.Experienced Hackney people can approach along Well Street and Cassland Road (Cassland Road is one-way going East), but it's tricky and if you miss the turning you're lost! When you get into Cassland Road, take the second turning on the right, just after the fine Georgian Terrace. This turning is Meynell Road, at the end of Meynell Road, turn right into Meynell Crescent. From outside London from the South top of this page Come up the M2 or M20/A20 and then the A102 through the Blackwall Tunnel.
